With all the Lu rumors and not wanting him to go to a 'western' team, what would you think of a Luongo/Ballard/Booth/and our 1st for Kane/Enstrom trade? Its a move that has pros and cons for both teams, but I also think its one that would work for both.

The Jets get someone who is locked up long term and is someone they can market the team on and build around(Luongo) They also get 2 quality players, who although inconsistent at times are still pretty young, skilled guys. Plus a low end first.

The Canucks would add a gamebreaker and a quality young defenseman. I could see both making a big difference for them.

A pick/prospect or 2 may need to be added to make it work cap-wise, but I think this is a fair proposal.

This is not about shipping Pavelec out but looking at how the Jets improve a key weak area. Sure they could take Luongo but is it better to give Pav a 3 year deal for 9 mill to see if he is real deal?

Look at the PP stats and what does that say about him? Or does it say more about the team in front of him? He can be better but IMO so can a few other players and the defense system.

Kid's 24 years old, and maturing just like a lot of our other young stars. He's good - and at a position where players generally mature in their 30's, the future is bright. Panic at the goaltender position is not necessary.

Not a huge believer in all the stats - the guy stole games for us last year, and showed that in the big high pressure games, he can make the big save.

Greater commitment to defense is what's needed, along with a bit more composure - we had to have been one of the most penalized teams in the league last year??

Play a trap style system, flood the neutral zone, block shots. You'll be a snore to watch like most are these days but Pavelec will magically look like a Vezina candidate all of a sudden and the system should be good enough to get you to at least the 2nd round.

"Fair" eh?? Either you haven't watched much hockey and/or don't know the players situations.

Luongo has a 20 year contract, is it good to have a player locked up long term?? Well not when he is over 30 and fading....don't think he is very marketable considering his play, especially in the playoffs the past couple years. Ballard can't even make the lineup most nights and Booth is a 3rd line player. Your 1st RD pick is not worth much.

Now, Kane & Enstrom...stealing your words...."The Canucks would add a gamebreaker and a quality young defenseman. I could see both making a big difference for them." Kane is 20 yrs old, a 30 goal scorer, while Enstrom is a top 4 D man.

Does this still sound like a "fair" proposal??

The JETS are fine in net with Pavs, just need to play better overall D. If they want to have a player locked up long term, it should be Kane....not Louie!
